ABOUT ME

I have always been drawn to fabrics.  As a teen I sewed my own clothing and felt pride in the finished product.  My love of old photos, images of strangers’ lives which I could only imagine, found a home in my home.  As a kid with angst of “becoming,” I found inspirational quotes comforting, and as life knocked me about humorous quotes and laughter made my spirit swell.  In putting them all together — fabric, photos, and quotes — I had something that resonated with me, and to my delight, with others.

I have been a very grateful, self-supporting artist since 1980.  I have been creating fabric collages with photos of serious Victorian women, children, and quotes, since 2002.  I am drawn to the element of surprise, so quite often the quotes are irreverent and humorous.  At the same time, I use inspirational quotes that touch hearts, fabric layers and textures that enrich the story.  I love unique treasures that evoke a reaction or comment and it’s always been important to me to offer this to customers.

When creating a collage, whether it be fabric, paper or objects in my home, the fun is seeing how each element communicates with the others and how the whole resonates with the viewer.

Since the pandemic, I have found myself learning new skills that have resulted in one-of-a-kind Rustic Journals, Remembrance Books, and Natural Art Brushes that I am anxious to share.  I will be posting them on Instagram and Facebook, so please like me!  I am always ready for the challenge of a custom commission, as communication and creative connection are my core motivators.
