ARTIST STATEMENT
Pure joy is what I experience when I am assembling my fabric collages. It’s calming and exciting all at the same time. Combining elements I adore, fabrics, trims, old photographs, and quotes, I become absorbed in the process. Instinctively putting each component together, a story begins to unfold. Frayed and torn cloth, imperfect stitches all add to the charm of these fabric novellas. From inspiring to humorous, the artistic image strikes a chord.
I am extremely grateful to have found my passion and I am committed to continually pushing the envelope. I am a graduate of New England School of Art and Design in Boston and have sold my work in various galleries in the U.S. and abroad. My traveling art fairs are in my rear view mirror, but you never know when my gypsy heart will skip a beat and pull me on the road. I hope we’ll keep in touch on the website and social media.
My gypsy daughters seem firmly planted in Portland Oregon, so that is where I am — an east coast girl living in a northwest world.
With gratitude,
Sue
